In 2004, Stanford Computer Optics, Inc. introduced the ultrafast framing camera, XXRapidFrame. This ultra high speed framing camera educes the advantages of the outstanding intensified CCD camera in terms of highest temporal and spatial resolution. Especially, the 200 ps exposure time and the inter-channel time of 10 ps allow users to take consecutive image series of the fastest processes in high resolution. The XXRapidFrame framing camera consists of up to eight intensified CCD channels. This setup enables consecutive image series of up to 8 frames with a frame rate of 100 billion frames per second. By applying the double frame mode a consecutive image series of up to 16 frames can be taken. Therefore, the XXRapidFrame camera provides access to the fastest process like flash origin or laser ablation.
